Mission Statement
The Story
We need to reach at least 80% of our goal to keep ANY of the funds! No amount is too small. Every dollar gets us closer to making our film possible!
Below you'll find information on the story, the inspiration, characters, funds distribution and lots of fun pictures for a cheeky little visual stimulation.
Riley wakes up in her big bed, lonely but not alone. Angel and Devil (the personification of her anxiety and inner-turmoil), are right there as soon as she gains consciousness. Riley has a slow start to her morning, snoozing her alarm once again. She's lost her motivation and feels like she’s just going through the motions of life. As Riley rushes to get ready for a date, Angel and Devil follow her everywhere, boldy expressing their conflicting opinions, as per usual.
Riley takes a quick trip to the store before heading on her date. A simple task one might think, until Angel and Devil want to be heard.
After a series of awkward moments, funny run-ins and some sheer romantic luck, Riley starts putting in work to be a version of herself that she's happier with. She’s crushing it at the gym and opening up to Keira, her crush. Angel and Devil start to take a back seat as they see Riley gaining self-respect, setting boundaries and being true to herself.

OVERWHELMED - ROYAL & THE SERPENT
WHY ME?
After a pretty rubbish couple of years following COVID and SAG strikes, I faced a lot of doubts about my career and success. I decided to take those anxieties, punch them in the face, write them down and use them to make a film. Plus, I strive to normalise queer stories as you could say it's a field that I have experience in.
WHY NOW?
Turn on the news. Okay that's enough turn it off. The world feels heavy right now and anxiety is sky-rocketing. Three's A Party shines a light on how someone with anxiety can struggle with decision-making and self-worth. I also really wanted to create a comedy to lift spirits and have something fun to work on.
WHY THIS?
I was in a short that had a festival run taking me to Palm Springs and New York and the creative energy during that time filled my heart. It's not always about blockbuster movies, but making some art with a story to tell.
Riley is in her late 20's and feels like she’s past the point of ‘finding herself’. She uses music to quiet her mind, weed to escape her mundane reality and humour to lighten intense situations.
She’s constantly in a tug of war with her 'Angel' and 'Devil', and it’s tiring. As Riley learns to control her anxieties and embrace her true self, she realizes that she is the one in charge of her future and that it’s never too late to make changes.
Angel and Devil are extensions of Riley and only she can see them physically.
Angel is the personification of Riley’s good conscience and a positive influence. She’s the rule follower. She's all of your good qualities - polite, kind, encouraging and veers away from confrontation. Saying this - she is not a pushover or super uptight. She’s smart and well mannered, but can still have fun. She wants what’s best for Riley and sometimes that does mean saying things Riley doesn’t want to hear.
Devil is the personification of Riley’s intrusive thoughts and bad habits. She isn’t afraid to speak her mind. She thrives in conflict and can be very blunt. She’s not an awful person but she’s confident and doesn’t have a filter. She can sometimes be good for Riley as she boosts her confidence and pushes her to take risks.
Keira is Riley’s love interest and is important to Riley’s growth. She is the kind of person that you immediately feel comfortable around. Keira is confident and isn’t afraid to voice her desires. She sees life as an adventure and enjoys the simple things. Keira shows the importance of allowing people to be themselves, as it will in turn help them flourish.
THE CAST
.
Should Riley give money to those in need?
Angel says ‘yes’, Devil says ‘no’.
Should Riley make a move on a girl she likes?
Angel reminds her to be gentle and caring, Devil encourages her to send nudes.
In the end, only one person can make the final choice.
Hey you, reading this! *Fourth wall broken*
In ‘Three’s a Party’, we’re doing it, we’re Fleabag-ing it and having you be a part of the journey. All of the fourth wall breaking is done by Riley with quick glances away from the scene. She’s the only character who does this, which enables you to really connect with her point of view.
Throughout the film, Riley is battling with Angel and Devil trying to pull her to their side (metaphorically). Her own thoughts don’t even side with her so maybe someone ‘out there’ will. Every time Riley looks to the audience, it’s as if she’s asking them for a solution or validation. In the last glance, we see that Riley is no longer looking externally for the answers and she seems content and confident in herself.
EYES:
WINDOWS TO THE SOUL, NIPPLES OF THE FACE.
"In an age where our every move can be recorded and commented on, it’s clear why discovering and showing our true self can be such a challenge. It’s easy to feel scared of making the wrong choice and messing up with the whole world watching.
THREE’S A PARTY voices what we usually only hear inside our heads. For me, the inner-monologue begins as soon as I start to wake up, before I’ve even opened my eyes. This is what Riley is experiencing in the beginning of the film. Angel and Devil are used to show the audience the constant thoughts of someone with anxiety and self-doubt.
There’s a lot of myself in Riley and I hope to be able to create a comedic, moving story that other’s will also find relief and hope in."

NO ONE’S IN THE ROOM - JESSIE REYEZ
While this is a comedy, it will have depth visually & emotionally.
The title is based off an Andy Warhol quote. I grew up being enraptured by his use of bold colours in contrast with the simplicity of the images. I want THREE’S A PARTY to bring out the colours of everyday life and show all the works of art around us that we often don’t pay attention to.
Warhol was also an openly gay male, which was brave for a public figure in the 60's. This short does feature a same-sex romance, however, there’s no mention of it being an issue or a hurdle. It just exists. Whilst ‘coming out’ stories and stories that show conflict surrounding sexuality are important and relatable, I think we must also have queer media that normalises it. The comedy will be rooted in truth and authenticity. The same goes for Angel and Devil. They are not wearing wings and horns etc. They have colour palettes but they’ll look like someone you could pass on the street and not think twice about, at least in Hollywood.
Where the HECK is my money going?
I ask myself that same question every month. But here is a breakdown so you at least know what your generous contribution is going towards:

GOALS
If we meet our goal of $10k, we can actually make this film! The cast & crew will be paid and fed and equipment supplied.
Our stretch goal is $15k, which would enable us to hire additional people to help out, cover post-production costs and enable us to get the rights to a song that we have our heart set on. We've spoke with the record label and we need $1k to use the song in film festivals and an additional $2k to be able to put our film online with the song in it.
Our dream goal is $20k, which would make for a very smooth filming process. We could use all the songs we love, it would cover festival entry fees AND we could rent an even cooler space for a banging premier!
The ultimate goal is to bring this film to life with a group of passionate and collaborative story-tellers, then submit it to film festivals around the world, before an online release for everyone to see.
THREE'S A PARTY will shoot at the end of September 2024, followed by editing, and then submitted to film festivals in 2025.

About This Team
Originally from Manchester, England, Emma is a performer who moved to LA to attend the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Since graduating, she has worked on a variety of projects from major music videos to award winning short films, web series and national commercials. She has starred in feature films SPRING and STOWAWAY.
Emma has played several queer characters, which is important to her as she grew up not seeing herself represented in the media (with a possible exception of Xena: Warrior Princess). Emma says, “I want to open people’s eyes to different perspectives, bring a sense of belonging to those who feel alone, or maybe even just make someone smile.”
THREE'S A PARTY is Emma's debut short film! She wrote, produced and directed her own web series 'Girl on Girl' (an LGBT sketch show) bringing in over 200 000 views. She produced and starred in 'LA Web Series' which, over 2 seasons, has over 10 million views.
Isabella is a multifaceted talent with nearly 20 years in the entertainment industry, known for her roles as a producer, actor, and writer. Her creative imprint is evident in projects such as Disney Plus' "Secret Society of Second Born Royals", Pluto's "Just Swipe", and Amazon Prime's "Maybe I'm Fine". With over 80 projects under her belt, in various areas of filmmaking and a member of the PGA, Isabella is an invaluable addition to the Three’s A Party team!
“In 2016, I started a production company with my mum called Mother Daughter Entertainment (MDE). It was founded on a mission of inclusion and opportunity. We have produced projects for Pluto, Tubi, Amazon, and more. MDE’s ethos is “Making content that matters”, and that’s what strive to do with every project.”
Chance has extensive experience across short films, features, documentaries, commercials and music videos.
One of the things that made Chance stand out to us, was his use of camera techniques to convey an emotion and help guide the narrative. In his work with BetterHelp, the online therapy service, he shows a clear understanding of anxiety and how to portray it visually and artistically. Although 3AP approaches the subject matter in a more light hearted, comedic way, it’s rooted in truth.
