The Story

"... the best evidence we have that time travel is not possible, and never will be, is that we have not been invaded by hordes of tourists from the future."

- Stephen Hawking, "The Future of the Universe" Black Holes and Baby Universes and Other Essays

What if we have been invaded by tourists from the future? Would we even know? Maybe the man who asks for directions on the street is from the 22nd century. The woman in front of you in line at the coffee shop could be from the 26th century. Your favorite artist could be a refugee from the 31st century. How would we know? Time Signature started with the idea that a woman would meet a member of her favorite band and discover that that person is in fact a time traveler.

I have always been a huge fan of time travel narratives. The notion of being able to go back and change something, to see how things would be with even just a minor change. Time travel stories can be big with major impacts on history but the more interesting stories are the little ones. Personal stories that are maybe the things that you or I would do if we built a time machine. Time Signature isn't particularly concerned with the mechanics of time travel but the emotional impact of a decision to make a significant change in one's own history.
