The Story
A pair of mean theatre kids’ rancid treatment of others leads to a terrifying, life-altering event in this horror story about keeping in touch with your high school friends. We hope it reminds you of people you knew in school and leaves you ha-ha-haunted.
Hey! Welcome me to the crowdfunding page for our movie, Tomorrow, You Pretty Ghost! Thanks for being here. We are Abigail & Alex of Your Current Boyfriend Productions, one of the production companies that made this film happen and we're here now to get this thing distributed!! This is a feature-length film made by first-time filmmaking duo Rocky Pajarito & our very own Alex Morand. It is fully finished and has made its way around the country for screenings and film festivals - we proudly were the closing night feature for both the 2024 Valley Film Festival & Catalina Film Festival. Let's talk about the movie -
Tomorrow, You Pretty Ghost takes place in 4 days, over the course of 5 years: from high school, to college, to present day. A lot can change in half a decade, and a lot stays the same. You may have escaped high school, left your hometown, reinvented yourself in college, started your “life”, but you will never be able to escape yourself, or your memories. You know that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when your mind runs laps at 2am thinking about that time you did that thing in high school (you’ll never tell anyone what it was)? That’s how our movie feels. It relates to young adults who have just graduated high school all the way through to adults aged 60+ who sometimes still feel like they just graduated high school. If you’ve ever had a falling out with a friend, or said something you wish you could take back, or wondered how you turned out to be the person you are now - this movie is for you.

The film itself is about yearning - not for romance, but for a sense of identity. Our main character Haley's whole sense of self is informed and destroyed by the personality and worldview of her high school best friend, Chas. It's so rare to feel like you share the same language and outlook on life as someone else; it's easy to lean into that connection and lose yourself in the process, especially in the throngs of late adolescence. The other shoe drops when that relationship is revealed to be one-sided, and it calls into question everything you know about who you are, what you want, and why you want it.

Like so many others, our film has been in the making for years: we made it as a short in 2017, then wrote it into a feature in good ol' 2020, then called in every favor and friend to help make it into what it is today. Our film may lack cache and notable cast/crew, but we weren't going to let that stop us from making our film look as legitimate and professional as possible. And, we had a good time doing it - just look at our bright and shiny 4am faces.

Ours is a truly independent feature - a budget of 20k funded via maxed credit cards, money we saved up from various production gigs, and the kindness of family & friends. Shot in eleven days, in the fewest locations possible. We didn't really have the money to make a film, but we did it anyway! And made the most of what we already had.
For example: all these sets? All one house! (thanks, dad!)

Speaking of not really having the money... that brings us here, to the Seed&Spark. It is distribution time! We feel incredibly lucky to be at this stage of the process and proud of the journey we have been on to get here; to have had our film in festivals, to have finished post-production, to have made this movie at all. We’ve worked on this for years, learned so much throughout the process, and we can’t wait to get this thing across the finish line - and then do it all again. Unfortunately, this part of the process costs almost as much as it did to make our movie.
Take a look at the breakdown of our costs:
.jpg)
This is a breakdown of our initial goal of $8,000. This figure only includes the first year of Errors & Omissions Insurance, which we will need for 3 years. So, if we are lucky enough to reach our goal, then we will add the next 2 years. But in the meantime, we're focused on the immediate needs of our film and doing whatever it takes to get it out into the world.
If things go to plan (god laughs) Tomorrow, You Pretty Ghost will be out in the world in 6 months for you and everyone else to enjoy. But that’s not the end of our story - We are a production company! We are writers and directors and actors and this is what we want to do with our lives (god laughs). This is our first film and we have no intention of it being our last. Getting this film distributed means that we can use it as a calling card for our next project - and you best believe there are several written (Alex is a madman) and more popping up in our minds all the time. Our journey here never ends, so come join us! California is beautiful this time of year, and we’d love to have you.
Well, you've reached the bottom of the page, thank you for scrolling this far! If you’re unable to donate, please share this page with your friends and family. You can even copy + paste this little blurb : I donated to the distribution campaign for “Tomorrow, You Pretty Ghost” and all I got were recurring nightmares from highschool. We have survived and thrived off of word of mouth and the kindness of the wonderful people we have met throughout this process. Thank you for considering donating to our film!
