Story
Mission Statement
We are a group of six female creatives committed to producing opportunities for women in the entertainment industry. We are dedicated to creating and telling female driven stories while giving opportunities to those under-represented in Hollywood.About The Project
UnCorked is the story of the ladies of a Jane Austen Book Club who, tired of making lemonade in crystal pitchers whenever life gives them lemons, decide to make something even tarter and sweeter: porn. Tasteful, elegant porn, made with their needs in mind, which have been ignored for far too long.
Last June we were staying late and drinking wine after a meeting and bemoaning the lack of quality roles for women when we realized we could bitch about it or we could do something about it. Several working meals, brainstorming sessions floating in the pool, and cases of wine later, the idea for UnCorked was conceived, fleshed out and realized. In the course of writing and producing the first six episodes, we’ve fallen in love with these characters—flawed, messy, complex women who are more like us and the people we know than what we’re encountering on screen. We’d love your help with the funds to shoot the remaining episodes of our first season.
UnCorked is produced by, written by, directed by, edited by and stars women. We’ve run the writers' room as a collaborative team without a lone showrunner. We broke the story together and took lead on our own episodes. We are putting the lie to the myth that there is room for only one woman in the room and that all others must be viewed as competition. Our credo is to reach out to, empower, and employ other women in positions which are underrepresented in the entertainment industry.
Here’s a hint: everyone you know (unless you hang with a bunch of asexual people, which if you do, cool, no judgment) thinks about sex. The idea that sex, desire, and love are the sole purview of the gorgeous, the young, and the thin is quite frankly, a load of bunk. We’re calling shenanigans on that. (Sorry if you just thought about your grandparents, but you know they did it.)
