Mission Statement

This film contains themes supporting women empowerment as well as showing the atrocity of minorities following the orders of their bosses in order to be treated fairly or to be considered for promotions.

The Story

In all honesty, this project is for my final Capstone short film for Arizona State University. That being said, it is still a project that I deeply care about. I'm not going into this project thinking, "Let's get this project over with so I can get a grade and graduate." My real goal with this project is to accurately portray the themes that this story tackles through the art of film.

This story incorporates themes of morality and forgiveness, but ultimately it's about a woman making a choice that she can live with. My inspiration for this story came from my past experiences of having to make the unpopular choice in order to follow Christ.

As a follower of Christ I strive to uphold the law of God that is described in the Bible as a result of the fact that Jesus has changed my heart. Sometimes in order to obey God it becomes necessary to disobey man. This could be from people in authority over me or just going against peer pressure. Obviously this is not an every day necessity, but when these situations do I arise I strive to make the choice that is pleasing to God; the choice I can live with.

I recently got married this past July and my wife has been a huge supporter of my passion for film. Before I met her, I only wrote for big male charatcers with guns. After meeting her and realizing her talent for acting and her passion for film as well it inspired me to expand my creativity to create Under Fire. She pushes me constructively and encourages my every move, making her involvement a major contribution to the development of Under Fire.

And we just had our baby!! Big props to my wife, Alanah Chase,  who pulled off leading in the film merely 3 weeks after he was born! Look forward to his name, Tymon Kay Passantino, in the Production Babies section in the credits!

This film is going to emphasize my love for action and drama as I show my skill in balancing both genres as they become relevant in the story. Under Fire may appear to be ambitious and I believe it is, but I also believe it is necessary to tell both the action side of the story and the slower-paced dramatic side. I am confident that I can interweave both without the film feeling tonally inconsistent and I have the full support of my cast and crew standing behind me.
