This film tackles the topics of grief and abuse the way a lot of us do - with humor. Untidy explores Harper's complex feelings towards her late father as she avoids and fights them the way people do with their negative or traumatic experiences - with sex, alcohol, work, and maybe a little karaoke.

Mission Statement

This project is written, produced, and directed entirely by women. We are addressing both the subtle and not-so-subtle ways in which the patriarchy invalidates or dismisses women's stories, and we've filled our cast and crew with women of all backgrounds and identities.

The Story

"Untidy" is the story of Harper, a NYC-based actress dealing with the fallout of the death of her estranged, abusive father.  The film follows Harper as she alternately avoids and deals with her complicated feelings about his death, all while juggling a dead-end retail job, the grind of auditions, and a "casual" relationship with a commitaphobe man-boy.

Untidy delves into the nuances of sexual assault, and the various ways in which people deal with their grief and trauma, whether its through humor, sex, alcohol, work, or all of the above.

Our incredible cast and (entirely female) crew are all set and ready to shoot the second week of February. Every single contribution goes towards helping this film get a step closer to production. Without your help, Untidy simply can't get made! Or seen, for that matter. We intend to submit Untidy to film festivals around the world, to help our little project find it's audience. What's a story without an audience, after all?
