Mission Statement

Valhalla Calls No Names is more than a Viking horror drama; it’s a story of resilience, identity, and the true meaning of leadership when leadership and tradition falter. Blending Norse mythology with family struggle, the film shows how strength comes not from brute force but from resolve.

The Story

Hjarta was raised to believe she would inherit her father’s place as leader of the clan. But when the mighty chieftain Ivar dies in battle, the clan denies her the throne, passing it to her younger brother Haakon, whose hunger for war overshadows any vision of unity.

When a wounded Valkyrie arrives with news that the Gate of Valhalla itself has been seized by a monstrous force, Hjarta sees her only chance to prove her worth. Forced to fight alongside her brother, she faces not only the horror of the evil creature, The Drengslok, but the weight of her tribe’s doubt.

For Hjarta, this battle isn’t just about survival; it’s about proving that leadership comes not from brute strength but from wisdom and resolve.

Rooted in the rich world of Norse Viking mythology, Valhalla Calls No Names follows a Midgard clan charged with guarding the gate to Valhalla, the sacred afterlife for warriors who die gloriously in battle.

Production Design by Gabrielle Guimarães | Concept Art by Joshua Chan

Though entrusted with one of Odin’s highest tasks, the clan’s survival depends on strong leadership and cooperation with the king, making the choice of chieftain a matter of life or death.

Hjarta: The eldest child of Chieftain Ivar. Resilient and intelligent, though deterred by her tribe’s rejection of her as a leader. She wrestles between vulnerability and determination, driven by a desire to prove herself and ensuring the clan’s survival.

Haakon: Hjarta’s younger brother. Bold, proud, and stubborn, with an insecurity hidden beneath bravado. A natural warrior but an impulsive leader, eager to prove himself.

Ivar: Hjarta and Haakon’s father. A powerful, commanding presence even in decline. His victories on the battlefield secured alliances and respect from neighboring tribes.

The Drengslok: From Helheim, tall and sinewy with necrotic flesh and monstrous horns. It moves with shadowy speed, striking with brutal precision. The Drengslok embodies death without honor.

Our production design centers on two grand, fantastical builds:

A full-scale Viking longhouse interior & and the Gate to Valhalla.

Our cinematography captures the fantastical beauty of Nordic times by emphasizing...

The warmth of the communal longhall and the cold, denseness of the Midgard woods.

Our music and score bring out the richness of the mythos, brought to life our student composer Logyn Okuda

His recent works include Orchestrator/Scoring Assistant on Fantastic Four: First Steps by Marvel Studios, Additional Orchestrations on Butterfly a Prime Video Series, and original work like the song seen below.

'Elegy for a Flower' by Logyn Okuda, performed by Budapest Scoring
