The Story

MEET THE TEAM:

THE STORY:

Bixby, struggling to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, discovers a virtual-reality machine and escapes her loneliness into a scenic virtual-world, repeating the same stunning sunset on a tropical beach over and over again.  In the process she falls in love with Nate, a man inside this virtual world.  But when her food and water run out, she must choose between her love and her life.  VIRTUALLY is a romantic science fiction short film with an unexpected ending that will stay with you long after it's over.

This is a movie about more than just survival in the desert after the world moves on.  It's about survival of the human spirit when someone is cast adrift and on their own.  Is life worth living if there is no human connection?  Bixby survives.  But is she truly alive?  And what happens when she discovers that human connection she craves, but that connection will ultimately kill her?

We are so excited to share this story with the greater community of sci-fi fans, who recognize that all the great science-fiction stories are not just great, fantastical, imaginative tales, but also serve as allegories for our times, and comment on the current state of our world and our society.  VIRTUALLY is a timely tale that, although set in the not-too-distant future, reflects on the universal human need for connection both to our environment and to one another.  We hope that everyone visiting our page is as excited as we are and we look forward to sharing this story and the hard work of a very talented cast and crew with all our backers and followers.

STRETCH GOALS:

Our $20,000 budget does not include certain aspects of post-production, festival fees and expenses and other legal fees related to film production.  If we are fortunate enough to exceed our campaign goal, we will use that money to enhance post-production and further our reach in film festivals and related promotion of the film.
