The Story
What would you do if you found a lone walkie talkie at your front door? Would you pick it up? Would you leave it outside?
Would you, possibly, suspect that your childhood best friend is trying to reconnect many years after a childhood-prank-gone-wrong painfully ended your friendship?
Two childhood friends, Patty and Mo, were forced to go their separate ways 15 years ago after one innocent, yet fateful decision. Now all these years later, luck brings them together again as adults trying to make sense of this world. The need for a friendly face and a healthy dose of catharsis leads them to rekindle their friendship and possibly find something more, all starting with an innocent surprise at Patty's front door - one single walkie talkie.

ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ WHY WALKIE TALKIE??
We live in a busy, overwhelming, doom-scrolling, crisis-driven world that never slows down. If you are lucky, you will find friends in life that help you slow down, enjoy the moment and make sense of the world around us. We used 'play' as children to make sense of the world - why not do it as adults?!
Our story is about a boy and girl who used to enjoy life through play. They explored the world, laughed at each other's dumb jokes and wisecracked their way through grade school, until one day when their fun had real-life consequences. Then they had to grow up fast. And they've been growing up ever since. We wanted to tell a story about how valuable returning to play can be. We hope to inspire our audiences to find joy through reconnecting with their childhood friends and their younger selves.
Some people say "the world used to be simpler", and that may be true in some ways. But really - our world was never simple. We just played more. So come play with us! The time to make art that celebrates playtime as adults is now. The bell has rung... and it's time for RECESS!

In our writing and planning of making Walkie Talkie, we were inspired by movies like Richard Curtis's 'About Time' and Roger Kumble's 'Just Friends'.

Our look for Walkie Talkie blends together the playful, colorful world of childhood with the more wearisome world of being an adult... until our characters learn that you don't have to loose the color in your life when you grow up.You can retain your youthful energy and see all the colors the world has to offer! We will use color to help tell Patty and Mo's story throughout all of our locations: Patty's apartment, Mo's apartment, a neighborhood playground and the local city park. Right now we are focused on raising the funds to support the making of this film. That includes paying the crew for their valuable work, renting equipment, feeding the cast and crew (they need sustenance!), purchasing props and wardrobe pieces, and submitting the films to festivals around the world!

Once the film is finished, we plan on submitting it to different film festivals throughout North America and probs the world. We are excited to grow as filmmakers and make our own content (while waiting for Spielberg to call us up to star in his next romcom-thriller-action-packed-adventure movie)! And when the film makes it into festivals around the world, we will let YOU know which festivals to catch it at and hopefully where it can be streamed online!
