Todd's company is about to go public, but on the day he should celebrating, he's wracked with anxiety about a sexual encounter fifteen years ago. Now, he has to go visit his old flame to make sure she won't cancel him.

Mission Statement

We Good? Sets out to explore that uniquely modern anxiety - that sense that you MAYBE did something wrong in the past that could completely ruin you.

The Story

'We Good?' is a film about a guy who’s on the verge of a career milestone, but needs to make sure an old flame isn’t going to cancel him first. This is an exploration of that modern anxiety we all have, about something we said, did, or posted, that might come back to haunt us.

Todd's career is on the upswing, his company is about to have an IPO and things are generally going great. But he just can't shake this weird feeling he has about a sexual encounter back in college. He's got to make sure everything is all good with her, because if it's not...he'll have to deal with it, legally.

It's important to note what We Good? is not about - it's not a comedy about sexual assault. I can't tell that story, and it would be really challenging to make that funny.

But it is about anxiety, terror, and fear of your past. Fear of the stuff you really should've resolved years ago. We've all got something in the back of our minds that we wish we hadn't said, done, or tweeted. This is about confronting that feeling.

The money we raise through this campaign will go toward the production costs we've already incurred, in addition to post-production and festival costs. The film is currently in post-production, and it's coming along nicely - but we'll need funds to pay for composers, VFX and sound mixers - to name just a few.

As I said, we've already shot the film, and the shoot went GREAT. Here are some stills from the footage.

Here are some behind the scenes snaps from the shoot days!

Production Costs

Costs $6,000

As I've said, we already shot the film! This is the amount needed to recoup production costs: catering, equipment rentals, crew payments.

Post production

Costs $4,000

Our cast and crew were so amazing and generous with their time, it's imperative that we stick the landing on our post-production.

About This Team

A truly AMAZING team has shown up to help this film come into existence. I'll start with my cast:

DOUG HURLEY graciously joined to play our lead, Todd, who's wracked with guilt. Credits include The Baxters, Gaslit, and Maggie.

STEVIE NELSON, a hilarious person and great friend, was an early champion of the script and I was thrilled to have her join the cast as Emily. Credits include White House Plumbers, The Mad Ones, and New Girl.

CAMILLE MANA, another seasoned pro, joined us to play Todd's lawyer Lily. Credits include Scrambled, The Equalizer, and New Amsterdam.

My DP and EP, Charles Papert, is a total pro, and a fantastic collaborator. I couldn't have managed my first outing as a director without his depth of experience. His credits are deep, but some notable projects include Scrubs, Key & Peele, and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.

Another long-time friend, Morgan Lester, jumped on to help produce. I couldn't have done it without her know-how and production experience. Their credits include Go for Grandma, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Tabitha TV.

My buddy Marcus Jones, was the first person who read the script and regretfully informed me that I had to make this thing. I'll be forever indebted to him for pushing me. He was our inscrutable script supervisor.

My sister, and very talented production designer, Alanna Barrett, came on board early to help location scout and eventually design the interior. Credits include Beef, Earth Mama, and Dexter: Origins. She's the best!

My editor, Jeremy Cohen, has worked on a boatload of network comedies, including Fresh Off The Boat(see what I did there?), Young Rock, and the upcoming Laid.

And I am SHAWN DEMPEWOLFF, a writer/director in Los Angeles. He works mostly in the comedy space, and has pitched TV projects to everyone that makes them.
