Mission Statement

Cinema Family Productions is a group of Louisville filmmakers that met through the University of Louisville. Our company allows us to create projects using the knowledge we gained from school, Hollywood, and other Indie filmmakers. We strive to create fun, inclusive, and educational film sets!

The Story

Weeping Falls is an episodic short series reminiscent of October nostalgia and planned to be released as an anthology style feature. Throughout the five parts outlined below, we follow teens Jesse, Nicole, Paul, and Felix as they encounter several mysteries in their small town of Weeping Falls. The series is a love letter to 90's children horror media such as Goosebumps, Are you Afraid of the Dark, and Scooby Doo. Our goal with the five “episodes” or “shorts” is to package them together as one feature length film with the intention to go to streaming services. Since 2023, we have filmed the first four parts, and are looking to raise funds to film End-Times and finish the feature.

The first episode in the series, The Legend of Gourdface, is inspired by children's horror media. Invoking the feel of nostalgic autumn, three kids must defeat a wicked scarecrow who comes back to life every one hundred years, ready to feast on unlucky souls who enter his cornfield. Filmed in 2023 as a college thesis project for its directors, the film was screened at festivals around the Country and won awards at Colorado Festival of Horror, Gem City Horror Film Fest, and Fright Lake Horror Film Fest. It can now be seen on the Cinema Family Productions YouTube channel here.

In the next episode, Jesse, Nicole, Paul, and Felix hatch a plan to capture proof of the paranormal for a town-wide photo contest. While rumors of poltergeists and long forgotten cults haunt the hallways of the once-grand “Mourning Manor,” what really lurks inside is something sure to place first. During Eeek!’s festival circuit, we continued screening across the country and even took Weeping Falls international with screenings in Australia. Eeek! is also available to watch on our YouTube channel here.

In the third episode of Weeping Falls, Jesse, Nicole, Paul and Felix face off against a mysterious group of rockstars who will stop at nothing to win the local Battle of the Bands. Throughout this grunge, deception-filled mystery, we will all be asking the same question: Can they conquer the stage fright against their strongest enemies yet? Battle of the Bands wrapped filming in September and is still in post-production. While the film is not completely edited yet, here are some early looks.

In the fourth episode of Weeping Falls, Jesse, Nicole, Paul, and Felix finally get the break they need and get to enjoy their senior prom...at least until a zombified bounty hunter shows up and cuts their special night short. Zombie Prom was filmed this past June and is in early post-production. While we don't have stills to share just yet, here are some BTS photos.

The first two episodes have received a lot of praise so far. The Legend of Gourdface and Eeek! have been official selections in a combined 15 film festivals across the globe and have won several awards. Beyond the festival recognition, we have also received local attention with LEO Weekly Magazine and the Genre Film Club series. Beyond our two Weeping Falls shorts, we are also regular competitors in the 48 Hour Film Project. Here are some of the awards we have received:

During our trip to Colorado for The Colorado Festival of Horror Reel Horrors Film Festival, Hunter and Alyssa were featured panelists on two panels: “Indie Horror Film School: Blood, Sweat and Budgets” and “Beyond the Final Girl - Female Representation in Horror.” Stephan was also a featured filmmaker on the live episode of the “Do You Like Scary Movies” podcast. We also took home a Special Jury Award for Excellence in Independent Horror Filmmaking for our work on Eeek!

Without spoiling everything about our final episode, old villains return as Jesse, Nicole, Paul and Felix try to escape from the depths of Hell. Catch our finale as part of the completed package in the Weeping Falls feature film. Now, onto the price breakdown:

We're looking to raise 3500 dollars to finish our final episode, here's a breakdown on what we need:
