You meet someone. You make a connection. Maybe you even go out on a date. And then... nothing. It's like they disappear. Why? Perhaps you get a vague reason, perhaps not. You move on with your life but you're always curious why it never went anywhere. Wouldn't you like to know why?

Mission Statement

I am proud that my director and both producers on this project are all women. Though this film is about a man trying to get over a woman, it's themes of loss and curiosity are universal.

The Story

"What Was Her Name?" is a short film about missed connections and the curiosity that goes along with them. Why didn't he ever call back? Why did she stand me up? WHAT HAPPENED?! A guy named Alex goes to a bar and once the bartender takes one look at Alex's face, he only has one question, "What Was Her Name?" As Alex's story unfolds a few of the bar's regulars offer advice and part of the mysterious "why" gets answered!

Our Production Team

Allison Powell- Director

Allison's motto is "Make it Happen". Since moving to Los Angeles from North Carolina, Allison has been involved in projects as an actor, writer, director, producer, and resident tea drinker. Her recent short film "Black Widow: Origins" got rave reviews from Movie Pilot News and is touring the country with Geek Film Fest. Last February she completed her first feature, "Banging Lanie", as producer/director/lead. She most recently worked on the romantic comedy "Fame-Ish" which was all filmed during a real anime convention. Allison is an avid runner and just completed her first 50k trail run.

Virginia Reece- Producer

Virginia spent years training to be an opera singer, until she made her first commercial. From that moment, Virginia fell in love with camera work, and a pursuit of honesty and human understanding ensued — on both sides of the camera. Virginia made her film debut in Adam Sandler’s 50 FIRST DATES, and since then she has been in many films, television shows, and commercials. As a producer/AD, Virginia has worked on several
short films including PLATYPUS & MADE PUBLIC (dir. Foster Wilson), as well as POP, BnB, and DANNI AND MAY. She worked in pre-production on her first feature, BANGING LANIE, last October. When not working in front of or behind the camera, you can find Virginia sitting at the piano writing love songs.

Jenny Blaxland- Producer

Jenny is an east coast transplant who now calls Los Angeles home. Born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, she left her 15-year career as a senior level manager with Comcast Ad Sales and relocated to the west coast with her family. Feeding a lifelong passion for original storytelling, Jenny has been fortunate to work on independent projects as a PA and associate producer this past year. She most recently worked on the second season of the web series ctl-alt-delete.

Benjamin Seay- Writer/Actor

Please, call him "Ben." Ben hails from Jacksonville, FL and received his BFA in Theatre Arts from Elon University. Since moving to Los Angeles he has appeared in a number of TV shows, commercials and independent films. He is also a screenwriter who's first short film, "All Mixed Up," was produced in 2014. Ben is married to his incredible wife Jennifer, a talented painter, sketch artist and illustrator. In his spare time Ben enjoys writing, movies and yes, watching pro wrestling.
