Mission Statement

"The Very Bad Terrible Thing You Could Not Stop" is an experimental horror film that confronts the messiness and absurdity of grief, giving voice to young adults struggling to rebuild their lives after loss.

The Story

During a chaotic night of robbery and light lesbianism, a "pathological liar" connects with a charismatic stranger, causing her past traumas to resurface, threatening to sink her into delusion.

Why me?

My dad was diagnosed with a fatal brain disease when I was 16. I planned a quick escape, moving across the country after high school, but my past continued to slowly destroy me. I was trying to find my footing as an adult while also facing this immense grief that none of my peers seemed to quite understand. It’s a very lonely place to be in.

Questions to ask yourself before bed:

Who do you Iove most? When will they die? Will there be food at the funeral? How tight was their string around your heart? What will you do when it strangles before it breaks? How do you handle grief? Are you afraid you will drown in its fog?

You should be.

How fast can you run?

Artist: Boris Groh

Synopsis:

After spreading her usual lies at a college party, Tahla begins to lose her sense of reality, that is until she is approached by Maeve who attempts to befriend her. Tahla is attracted to Maeve's open nature and finds her presence grounding. A romantic connection is quickly sparked between the two, but Maeve struggles to trust Tahla because of her evasive nature.

Will she be able to overcome her fears and open up to Maeve?

What is truth?

You can't tell a good story without a little bit of bullshit, but when do these embellishments go too far? Tired of having to explain her past and frustrated with her inability to tell her story in a way she feels is "true," Tahla begins to tell increasingly ridiculous lies; but somewhere along the way, she crosses a line and this questionable coping strategies turns against her.

The power stories grant us to reinvent ourselves and our lives is both useful and alluring; however, storytelling can also be heartbreaking because a story can never replace reality. Imagination is a wicked curse when the impossible is so pretty.

What makes this film unique?

With a background in production design, editing, and writing, I have a unique highly character driven style of directing. I also love the intense visuals of animations and video games and hope to unite the best parts of these other art forms with film.

Our crew: My director of photography has a background in experimental films and documentary which I've found makes her the perfect creative match for me. My crew's well-balanced dynamic will be crucial to making this film a reality.
