Over the course of a year, I will follow the guidance of psychics, tarot card readers, & other intuitives to stop being a passive observer in my own life and start actively living it.

Mission Statement

This film is for anyone who feels stuck passively staring at a screen instead of living their life. Whoever You Say I Am will examine what it's like to wrestle with stability vs. creative ambition. If our dream life feels too distant, what are we meant to do in the meantime?

The Story

What if someone who can see beyond the physical world could see my path more clearly than I can?

I've always enjoyed going to tarot card readers, psychic mediums, and, like most of my friends, have a rotating cast of TikTok astrologers I scroll through every night.

It's always just been a casual interest. Until now.

We all have the same lingering questions in the back of our minds: What is my purpose? Why am I here on Earth? If the life I've dreamed of feels out of reach, then what the hell am I supposed to be doing?

I'm a writer living in Los Angeles, and while I've accomplished a lot of my goals and love my life, I've spent so much of my time working survival jobs that have not always been fulfilling or financially rewarding. After feeling a little directionless and aimless, I went to a psychic who changed my perspective on everything.

She correctly predicted where I'd get married, how many kids I would have (TBD!), and she channeled my grandmother, who passed away in 2013, who knew I had her necklace. On my second visit a year later, the psychic channeled my aunt, who knew about the sapphire ring I found in my backyard while doing yard work. I had found it tucked in the dirt on the exact spot where I'd be standing during my wedding ceremony. She wanted me to know it wasn't a coincidence.

It brought me comfort to know my relatives were looking out for me on the other side, watching me, still a part of my life, especially when things felt uncertain. Since my beloved psychic knew so much, things that no one could ever know, I was curious if other intuitives could help bring even more clarity to my life.

With the world feeling increasingly unpredictable, I've felt stuck in this weird in-between state, unsure of how to move forward. If I’m not going to have the career I want, at least not right now, what am I supposed to be doing? How can I get closer to what I want? How can I appreciate my life and not spend it waiting on my couch for an opportunity to land at my feet?

Since I don't have the answer to these questions, I'm seeking out intuitives and exploring different approaches. For the next year, I will follow only their guidance in the hopes that it leads me in a direction that feels aligned with my purpose.

For too long, I've been allowing the pressure of career and societal expectations to cloud my life, and I've forgotten life is meant to be lived, life is meant to be... fun?! Who better to turn to than those who might know what's coming before I do?

1 in 3 Americans will consult a psychic in their lifetime. Intuitives provide the answers that we don’t have but desperately want. It’s the same reason why people, even non-believers, casually check their horoscopes to see what their future holds.

When will I meet my soulmate? When will I finally get my dream job? Is the month of May a good time to buy electronics?!

My generation (the cool, young one…) has felt the burden of a financial crisis, an impossible job market, artisanal sandwiches now cost $17 for some reason, and, like, the world could be ending at any second. I’ve learned to function in survival mode, chronically online, doom-scrolling, rotting from an overload of heavy news. Our brains are cooked! And I know I’m not alone in this feeling.

For anyone feeling stuck or stagnant, this film is a reminder that it's never too late to change course and trust your intuition...or... at least your intuitive guides!

I share the same uncertainty about the future that so many of my friends and peers feel, too. I'm doing this project for all of us, and I'm approaching this year with curiosity and an open mind. This project isn't about proving intuitives right or wrong. I have so much admiration and appreciation for their gifts and only want to use their guidance to discover a renewed sense of purpose and appreciation for my life.
