THE STORY
A filmmaker named Daisy, is currently working on a documentary project about love. But after her boyfriend of three years breaks up with her out of the blue, she feels like her whole world has fallen apart. So, she quits working on the film, as she no longer believes that love exists. That is until she stumbles upon a group at her local church that helps to put her back together and find the true meaning of love goes beyond just boyfriends and romantics. Will she go back and finish the film and start to heal?

WHY YOU?
This film comes from a deeply personal place. I’m telling this story because it reflects lived experience, questions I’ve wrestled with, and conversations I have had throughout my life that has brought me to the place I am today. I’m embedded in the world of this story, and that gives the film its authenticity, nuance, and emotional truth.
This film goes beyond just being a story. It is something I wish I had back then. With this film I want to inspire others to continue to strive for what they want and believe in, even if sometimes the road gets a little foggy.
WHY THIS?
At its core, the film is about connection, consequence, and choice—ideas that resonate universally, even when the setting or characters feel specific. People change people an you matter, your story matters. Everyday so many people face many challenging things, whether that be mental health, loss of a loved one, addiction, stress, fatigue, etc. A great thing about film has the power to create empathy quickly and viscerally, and this story is designed to do exactly that: to spark conversation, reflection, and recognition in the audience.
Life is tough and a lot of times during that period you feel so alone. I did. But you are never alone, there are so many people out there with so many shared experiences, both the good and the bad. I hope it can reach people to show them they are seen and heard. We also want to bring awareness for mental health and its impact.
WHY WE ARE FUNDING?
To create this film, we need community support! We are creating this film as our senior thesis project. But it is about so much more than that. We want to be able to reach as many people as we can to help them feel seen and heard and hopefully comforted by this film. Hi my name is Sam and I am a senior Digital Media Production student at Kent State University! I am the Writer, Director, and Producer of "Why We Love?" It has been my dream to create this film for a long time, and now in my last semester of college, I have been granted that opportunity! This story is straight from the heart and I hope it will inspire people. My goal for everything I create, is to reach people and with this film I am finally getting to take those steps to create that! So thank you for all your support!
