If MAN VS. WILD and JERSEY SHORE had a lovechild. But make it gay. And Asian. This absurd comedy on reality TV explores the artificiality of identity, morality, and reality itself – and just how quickly it crumbles in the chase for fame.

The Story
Irreverent. Absurd. Trippy.
Lone-wolf survivalist Echo thinks she’s here to film a wilderness education show – only to learn she’s been tricked into starring on Wild Ragerz: the trashy, queer party reality show of your dreams. In the ultimate survival challenge, she must navigate: a lesbian love triangle, a Producer who will do anything for views, a Production Assistant growing alarmingly obsessed with a mysterious cast member, and of course – wild ragers.
This absurd comedy both skewers and adores reality TV, while exploring the artificiality of identity, morality, and reality itself – and how quickly it crumbles in the chase for fame. The film blends diegetic and non-diegetic camerawork, allowing characters to occasionally see and interact with the camera, and experiments with aspect ratios, visual style, and multimedia to investigate the performance and construction of “reality.”
Multidimensional: Going Beyond Identity-Driven Narratives
As a queer, Asian American actor, I’ve been part of many stories about being queer or Asian American – and those stories are vital. But with Wild Ragerz, I wanted to go beyond that. This film is about identity – specifically, the commodification and iconization of identities – but it is never the source of conflict. It’s not about coming out or battling discrimination. It’s about centering joy over trauma and giving actors the freedom to participate in narratives not solely defined by their lived experiences, while still celebrating diversity.
Truthful: Following Creative Impulse
From acting to writing to directing, every part of this process is rooted in truth. That’s the shared philosophy behind Wild Ragerz: a commitment from every team member to make sincere, vulnerable, and daring artistic choices. This story is deeply personal to me (and not just because of my reality TV brainrot). At its core, Wild Ragerz is about fame: the spectacle of it, the morality around it, and the hunger for it. It’s a craving I believe every artist grapples with at some point, and from that emerges the question: what does it mean to make meaningful art?
Contemporary: Living in the Hyperreal
Wild Ragerz is directly inspired by French sociologist and philosopher Jean Baudrillard’s Fatal Strategies. Baudrillard popularized the theory of hyperreality (which inspired The Matrix!): when reality and simulation are indistinguishable. This is the state in which we live: not in reality, but in the signs of the real, infinitely seduced by image objects. And perhaps the only response to this transparent, purely aesthetic world of appearances is to become an image ourselves.
Enter: reality TV, a medium which claims to be reality itself. In this feature-length fever dream, I invite audiences to join me in this exploration of "reality" where, in the end, we are nothing more than images. So: what’s yours?
