The Story
Hi everyone, Mike Gencarelli here. I am the director of documentaries like The Shark That Roared and Beyond the Horizon of Madness. This new documentary holds a special place in my heart. I spent my teenage years growing up with [adult swim] and their programs. Still to this day, I don’t think there is a week that goes by that I don’t watch one of their shows. It all started with Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and from there I went completely all in and started watching whatever I could watch from this station. I am making this movie to showcase how Williams Street produced some of the weirdest and strangest shows for [adult swim] and how they took over late night television.
When we started working on this project we had emailed literally 100 celebs to interview. Obviously, not all of them will say yes but we are hoping to have a lot of great content for this film. I think this may be the most fun I have on a documentary. [adult swim] just stands for zany, crazy and creative content and that will all translate to the film itself.
We already have completed a few interviews for the film, which means we are off to a good start. But we need your help to hit our goals that way we are able to travel as much as possible and get as many interviews as we can.
All your favorite shows will be represented in this documentary ranging from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, Sealab 2021, Space Ghost Coast to Coast to Rick and Morty.
What We're Making - A feature-length documentary covering the full production
- Cast and crew interviews — the people who were there, in their own words
- Story and development — how these shows came together from concept to screen
- The legacy — how years after release these shows are still popular
Where Your Money Goes - We're a lean independent production — no studio, no padding. Just the real costs:
- Travel — flights and lodging to interview cast and crew in person
- Equipment — professional camera, audio, and lighting gear
- Post-production — editing, storage, music and archival licensing
Every dollar goes into the film.
