The loss of a parent is devastating for so many of us. We lose a piece of ourselves which forces us to face the pain and tie up loose ends. It is a rough road, but it is entirely possible to come to peace with the past. For anyone who has lost a parent -- you can do this!

Mission Statement

This film will give two mature actors -- one middle-aged, one senior - the spotlight to tell a heartbreaking, true mother and son story. It is never too late. Never too late to story-tell. Never too late to help others with their grief. Never too late -- to live!

The Story

Hello!

I am Joe Symon, the author and actor behind the film You Haunt Me. As close to my heart as this film is, it touches a very universal chord.

The loss of a parent.

Ben Howardson, a grieving middle-aged man, grapples with the loss of his accomplished concert pianist mother, Eileen Howardson. Her absence has left an indelible void in his life. Ben returns to his childhood home to pack up Eileen’s belongings. Upon entering, he encounters an unsettling sensation. What awaits him within those walls is an extraordinary event that will transform his life. Ben will confront his painful past, his paralyzed present, and his uncertain, yet hopeful future.

This film is my endeavor to achieve closure with my own mother, the subject of the Academy Award-winning documentary Close Harmony. Her brilliance was overwhelming, and I often felt inadequate in her shadow. She achieved remarkable success, and I have, in many ways, lived in her wake. This film will reveal the authentic and often turbulent dynamic between us. We shared an intense closeness, punctuated by volatile moments.

I know my mother was proud of me, but I never had the chance to prove myself fully to her, and perhaps now, I can. Late is better than never, right?

This intimate narrative features a cast of two: one middle-aged male and one mature female. I take great pride in crafting stories for older artists!

After all, it is never too late!

Of course, a dream takes more than heart...it takes funding. We are feeling impassioned that this message will speak to so many people who are hurting from the loss of a parent; especially to those who are still seeking some sort of closure to a complex relationship.

From the cast & crew of You Haunt Me:

Whether you are able to contribute or share with people who can -- thank you so much for your generosity and kindness!
