Mission Statement

Ginger Rage Media produces content that encourages interesting and multifaceted roles for women, POC, and members of the LGBTQIA community, telling stories where the characters’ qualifying attributes - ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, etc. - aren't the sole driving force of their story.

The Story

WHAT IS ALL THIS ABOUT?

Well, we're glad you asked because we are so ready to tell you. You’re The Pest is a comedic, female-driven, Bechdel-test-passing webseries about two former friends, Alex, a wannabe cop, and Marissa, a former pageant girl, who take over their families’ extermination business when their parents die in a freak skydiving accident. Between taking care of Marissa’s younger brother, and Alex’s recent expulsion from the police academy, their lives are taking an unexpected turn. The series explores the meaning of family and learning how to take care of yourself as an adult. Sounds pretty effing cool, amirite?

THIS SOUNDS FAMILIAR..... HAVE I SEEN THIS BEFORE?

Um duh. The pilot episode of “You’re The Pest” premiered in September 2016 to solid views and an overwhelmingly positive response! But maybe you missed it which is fine..... you're officially forgiven. You can watch it here: http://bit.ly/YTP101 The rest of season one is now written and ready to shoot..... ANOTHER SIX EPISODES!

WHY NOW, YOU ASK?

The demand for quality webseries is increasing as evidenced by the growth in digital platforms’ original media (i.e. Netlfix, Hulu, Amazon), but that demand is still by-and-large being met by the same standards of network television. It's all too common in our society's entertainment for one superficial aspect of who a character is to become their sole, defining characteristic (i.e gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation). Usually these characteristics serve to shove the character, and sometimes, the entire group of people that they represent, into a culturally-approved and unbreakable box. We believe that when that box is broken, it creates an opportunity for an audience to see themselves and the people they know reflected fully and fairly onscreen, and in seeing themselves in a new light, opening up what might be possible for them to be and accomplish.

White, straight, cisgendered people dominate television, and with the results of the 2016 presidential election still fresh in our minds, it's more important than ever to make sure every voice is heard.  We think it is important to create a culture where what is reflected on television and in the media is an accurate representation of a wider cross-section of people than just white, affluent men and white women who cannot function unless they are somehow romantically involved with a man.

By creating this story, we think we can begin to make a change in what kind of shows an audience feels they can demand from the larger entertainment companies who run more mainstream media platforms.

About This Team

TAYLOR CORIELL (Creator/ Exec.Producer/Alex O’Malley) is an actor/writer/producer, living out her dreams in NYC of doing all those things and drinking a lot of iced coffee. She is a two-time finalist for the Sundance/YouTube New Voices Lab and worked on the award-winning team of Redheads Anonymous, as well as This Is My Roommate, The AdultsKeep Me Posted, and a new webseries coming from the comedy duo, The Dreamstalks. She has been known to haunt the hallways of the Upright Citizens’ Brigade Training Center, when she’s not singing/dancing/being a redhead in every audition studio in Manhattan. She would describe her spirit animal as 50% Kimmy Schmidt and 50% that lady who takes airplane lavatory selfies in the Flemish Renaissance style.

JASMINE ROMERO (Co-Creator/Writer) is a New York-based television and theater actress. Recent credits include the national tour of SkippyJon Jones (Theatreworks), Will Rogers’ Follies (Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre), and Nueva Latina Monologues (Helen Mills Theatre). Jasmine plays Elmo’s teacher, Mrs. Sanchez on Sesame Street, and was also a real-life third grade teacher at Leadership Prep BedStuy in Brooklyn. She enjoys black coffee, outdoor sports, and over-the-knee socks, and boy, can she make a killer dolphin sound. Take a gander around her website for more info at www.jasmineromero.net!

JENNY PAUL (Producer) is best known for her role as Executive Producer and star of internationally acclaimed web-series, That Reminds Me... Jenny is an award-winning actress, producer, writer, and director in New York City. Some of her recent credits include Hulu's Looming Tower starring Jeff Daniels, Netflix/Marvel's Jessica Jones, and award-winning films Idle Worship and Parent Teacher Conference. Her upcoming producing projects include two untitled feature-length films in development, a half hour comedy series, Sanity Maintenance, and the new short form talk show, #Adulting. Jenny is also the CEO and founder of PennyPants Productions. She also enjoys long walks on the Roosevelt Island Boardwalk, candlelit dinners with anyone that is nice, and in her spare time, she enjoys being a workaholic. And singing. Sometimes. www.JennyPaul.info

ADRIANA DEGIROLAMI (Marissa Morales/Co-Producer) is an actor, writer, director from Chicago (the city, not a suburb) and an honors graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied acting with the Atlantic Theater Company, doing her best to keep her cool whenever David Mamet showed up. She has guest-starred in several network television shows including Bull, Quantico, Law and Order: SVU, Red Oaks, and Nurse Jackie, and will appear in a supporting role in the critically acclaimed film James White later this year. As a writer and director, she is proud member of the New York City-based female film collective “Shooting Jane”, SAG-AFTRA, and Ghetto Film School’s “Roster." She's Mexican and Italian, which means she has a lot of feelings that she expresses through animated hand gestures, and she's a Gemini, but her Virgo moon keeps her spiritually balanced. In her free time, she likes to scroll through her options on Netflix and give insightful life advice to people who may or may not have asked for it.

ADRIENNE LOVETTE (Director) is a New York City-based actor, director, writer and producer.  She most recently wrote, produced, and starred in the feature film When I'm With You, which screened at the Oscar-qualifying film festival Cinequest; the Thessaloniki International LGBTQ Film Festival in Greece; the Golden Door International Film Festival; and the Sacramento Film and Music Festival, where it won Director's Choice for Best Feature Film. When I'm With You is now available on Amazon Prime. Adrienne is also known for her roles in Sunlight Jr. which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival 2013 playing opposite Naomi Watts, and Thick Heart which premiered at the Montclair Film Festival & Top Shorts Film Festival where she won Best Actress. Select television credits include Gotham playing opposite Donal Logue and Ben McKenzie, Mr. Robot, and Master Of None playing opposite Aziz Ansari. Adrienne is a director for the stage and screen, with productions spanning from off-Broadway to Eastern Europe. She currently directed the suspense thriller short film called Hidden Daylights which received rave reviews calling the film a "mind bending chiller with "Hitchcock-like twists". Another review goes on to say that "Lovette expertly crafts a twisting, turning plot blindside that will surprise and entertain in one shot."  For more information and for her latest projects, visit www.TheGarageProductions.com and www.AdrienneLovette.com.

CAMERON PERRY (Co-Producer/Production Designer/Music Supervisor) is likely going through some sort of millennial-specific life crisis. An actor/singer/composer, who had a brief stint in interior design, he moonlights as a handyman and a fledgling producer ("moonlights" does not denote "by moonlight" in this instance, since he does little more than sleeping "by moonlight"). He would love to talk to you about that indie short you're working on. Though Cameron dabbles in writing too, he's probably much funnier in person than in pen.

SOPHIA HUEBSCHMAN (Associate Producer) Sophia Huebschman is currently a student at New York University, where she is pursuing her BFA in Film and Television Production and learning how to be the hipster she always aspired to be. Originally from Stuttgart, Germany, Sophia has travelled far from home to pursue her dream of producing in the city where dreams come true. Sophia's biggest focus is - women! Women in film, on screen, and behind the camera. She is excited to be working on You're The Pest for it's support of just that - diversity, good filmmaking, and a ridiculously talented cast and crew!
