Why I love being a filmmaker:

I've been an artist all my life. I became a professional photographer the age of 18 shooting fashion New York. Now as a filmmaker, I kind of view the process similarly.

With photography you have to tell the story visually without words. You have to be a documentarian of "this moment in time," and with film I think it's the same idea.

It's not just about having a good script, it's about seeing less and showing more. By having the images manipulate our emotions through the colors we choose for the pallet, the placement of objects for composition, in the aesthetic we choose in post production, etc, it all has to work together to bring the story to life.

Then, the writing adds to that level of emotional depth that we are already experiencing. And of course, it's about documenting "this moment in time"  in these people's lives.

Why this story:

When I read the script, I knew I had to make it. It's about what so many people struggle with and don't speak about— tragedy, loss, addiction, and how we do the best we can to handle it when the stakes are high for something we need to accomplish.

To me it's a story of healing and triumph over personal demons.
