The Story
Grieving the loss of a loved one is one of the most challenging experiences anyone can endure. My film delves into the depths of this sorrowful journey, exploring the desperation and hopelessness that comes with trying to change the past. Through this heartfelt and mind-bending psychological thriller, I hope viewers can connect with the protagonist's struggles and find encouragement in the resilience of the human spirit. By sharing this story, I aim to foster empathy and understanding, offering a glimmer of hope and the strength to move forward, even in the face of overwhelming grief.
Lip, our protagonist, is deep in the throes of the bargaining stage of grief, where one tries to negotiate with themselves to figure out a way that they may have been able to prevent a death from unfolding, which is often irrational. As Lip desperately attempts to unravel the events leading to his fiancée’s death, he confronts the heartbreaking reality that she’s never coming home. Through his journey, he faces the painful truth and begins to understand the resilience of the human spirit.
We have a powerful and emotional script written and ready to be shot. We're planning for a 3-day shoot in early fall. We are looking to cast up and coming talent from the East Coast to fill our main characters, Lip (40-year old man) & Ava (30 year old woman).
Current Status: We are currently in the pre-production phase of our short film. This involves finalizing the script, assembling our cast and crew, scouting locations, and planning our shoot schedule. We have a dedicated team ready to bring this poignant story to life, but we need your support to make it happen.
How This Campaign Will Help?: Your contributions will directly impact the production quality of our film. Funds raised through this campaign will be used for essential elements such as:
- Equipment Rental: Ensuring we have high-quality cameras, lighting, and sound equipment.
- Locations and Permits: Securing beautiful and fitting locations for our scenes.
- Talent and Crew: Compensating the talented individuals who will bring this story to life.
- Post-Production: Covering costs for editing, sound design, and visual effects to polish the final product.
We will use our budget for Production and Post-Production, as well as festival submissions. Once we've wrapped, our goal is a very quick turnaround in post-production, finishing the film and submitting to festivals by mid-winter. Our backers should expect to receive a link the finished film by early 2025!
If we're able to raise above our target of $15,000, we will be able to cast our "stretch" talent in order to give our film the best chance at success.

About This Team
Our writer & director, Max Jacobs, is a graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he studied film and focused his studies on writing and directing. Max has previously directed an award winning feature film, Watch Out, a short film, Through The Looking Glass, and a documentary Badger Baseball: More Than A Club. Based in New York, he is currently working as a production assistant on The Gilded Age S3 and has previously worked as a production assistant on Law & Order; Organized Crime, "Blue Bloods", and feature films A Complete Unknown", The Man in My Basement & I'll Be Right There. He is also the Executive Assistant to Stephanie Caleb and Franchesca Lantz at Ardvella Entertainment based in Los Angeles, California.
One of our producers, Noah Katz, is a graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington, where he studied entertainment and media management. Based in Philadelphia, he is an ambitious film producer with experience as a director's assistant and producer's assistant on films with budgets exceeding $3 million. Noah is driven by a desire to make a positive impact and help others reach their full potential.
