The Story
We're so glad you're here! Let us tell you a bit about our upcoming short film:
F*CKING COCKROACH is a romantic horror comedy about YOUR EX. And my ex. And everyone's ex. It's about that one person who keeps crawling into your life, in spite of all your attempts to get rid of them.
For Mel, that person is Brian.
Mel is determined to get a fresh start. She's just moved into a new apartment- one that happens to be roach infested and tucked away in a sketchy neighborhood. One night, while walking home from the grocery store, she gets a call from her boyish, charming and oblivious ex boyfriend, Brian. After learning she's moved, he offers to help her unpack. Mel declines... until a cockroach ruins her dinner plans.
Brian arrives at Mel's doorstep, carrying greasy take-out and a case of beer. Their chemistry is immediate and familiar. As they unpack boxes, they also unpack their relationship. Several beers, one drinking game, and a few cockroaches later, Mel realizes her infestation may not be the biggest problem in the apartment.

We needed to learn more about what she was working on, and we were not disappointed. Reading through an early draft of “F*cking Cockroach,” we instantly realized that Sam is just the kind of naturally creative person we were dying to work with. The story is easily relatable to anyone who has had to deal with an ex hellbent on finding ways to crawl back into their life. “When I first read this script, especially as a woman, I could really relate to it… I have been in this situation more than once. It can turn into a really lonely place, even if a part of you knows that you’re not the only one… it can feel like you’re alone and you don’t wanna tell your friends.”
Oftentimes, we turn a blind eye to what seem like "pesky little problems," because they are uncomfortable to deal with. But that’s how infestations start. One or two cockroaches are usually an indication of larger problems, in apartments and in relationships.
That’s one of the most exciting things about F*CKING COCKROACH.
The story takes place in a single location and features only three actors.
In other words, this film will look very good for very little.
Thanks to our amazing executive producers at Sleepwalker Films,
we have already secured $6,000 in initial financing which will go 100% towards fairly compensating our crew.
That's huge! With your help, we will raise another $6,000 to meet our total production budget of $12,000.
Once we meet our production goal, we’re aiming to raise an additional $5k for post production. That covers sound, color, music, and FESTIVALS, so get our film in front as many eyes as possible!
This is our timeline:

September: Start Principal Photography (the shoot!)
October-December: Start the edit and move into the new year ready to take F*CKING COCKROACH to festivals!

About This Team
SAMANTHA BEEMER is a Chilean-American actor, writer and director originally from Arizona. A self-identified 'iMovie kid', Sam grew up making movies in her backyard with her sister and cat. At age 11, she produced, directed and starred in a 25 minute remake of The Hunger Games which she forced her classmates and family to act in. Soon, she was bit by the theatre bug and began acting professionally in 2021. Some of her favorite projects include playing Two in Voyagers: A Space Rock Opera, Missy in The Marvelous Wonderettes, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Medium Alison in Fun Home, as well as directing a production of Alice by Heart and High School Musical. After moving to New York, she began writing again and producing a series of zero budget short films shot on an iPhone 14 (Cowboy Jerky, Scary Baby Movie, and a few Vlogs), which she used to connect with Filmmakers around the city. She is incredibly excited to get back to her roots in film and hope this is the first of many stories she gets to tell.
Alyriana is a filmmaker born and raised in Maryland. She moved to New York in 2017 to pursue graphic design and photography. Later, while under Covid lockdown, she decided to explore something new: acting. After working on the set of I Saw the TV Glow, she knew that filmmaking was what she wanted to do forever. In the years since, she has dabbled in various film roles, including acting, directing, writing, stunt-doubling, and producing. In October of 2025, Alyriana and Evan formed, Sleeptalker Films, with the goal of producing their own projects, as well as those of other aspiring artists that they believe in, like Sam Beemer. This past year, she wrote and directed the short film "Candy Necklace" (2026) and directed "One Act" (2026), as well as a narrative music video for "Bonafide Rockstar." Her earlier work includes the short films "BUMMER" (2025), which she co-wrote and produced, and "Wildflower" (2025), which she directed and produced.
Evan Abramsky is a producer and co-owner of Sleeptalker Films. In middle school, he developed a passion for directing no-budget YouTube sketches starring his younger brothers (and supportive parents)—spending countless weekends writing, recording, and editing videos together with a pirated copy of Sony Vegas Pro. After a long hiatus from filmmaking, Evan rediscovered his passion when he agreed to produce the indie short film, BUMMER (2025), where he also met Alyriana. Soon after, they founded Sleeptalker Films, a production company dedicated to supporting indie filmmakers around New York. He has since served as the executive producer for the music video “Bonafide Rockstar” (2026), and the short films “Candy Necklace” and “One Act” (2026).
