Mission Statement

We're using Savannah's beauty and history to explore trauma and corruption in modern America. Through our VHS Camera, we'll spy on the characters and let their truths ring out. Our philosophy is to be as natural as possible, focusing on dialogue and character depth as subject within baroque framing.

The Story

Who We Are

When we (Toby Keenan and Evan Quarles) wrapped our sold-out original four-act play, Day One, Week Two, Year Three, and The End of the Storm, we realized we were done doing anything but making art. With a growing audience and a team of like-minded, gifted artists, Pumpkin Prophets LLC was born. The idea behind the company is simple: every aspect of it should be a piece of authentic art. Not A.I. generated, no pre-built templates, no conforming. Even our website is coded from scratch by Toby himself. There's a demand for this kind of creative truth, now more than ever, and we're here to supply.

The Origin Story

In December, we set a goal: make a feature film. We knew we were ready to push ourselves, and so we committed to the work, giving it every bit of time it deserved. Within 6 months, we had it written, cast, and scheduled. We have worked relentlessly to bring this film to fruition, and we didn't do it alone.

Throughout pre-production, people not only supported our work, but understood our vision and have committed themselves to making it happen, our producer Joseph Oh being one of them.

Our script is finalized, our cast is delving deep into their characters, our crew prepping and planning. Our team is locked and loaded, ahead of schedule to shoot in September. The last piece of the puzzle is funding. Every dollar helps us put more on the screen, support our cast and crew, and widen our distribution pool. No matter what, this film is getting made, and with your help, we can make it better, make it easier, and make it what it deserves to be for the people who have poured everything they have into it.

This is real art. This is raw, guerrilla filmmaking. This is ambition, love, and truth. Most importantly, this is only the beginning.

Tone and Style

Our country pulsates, chafing itself as it tries to sort through it's long since founded identity crisis. Our stories explore the experiences of the current generation, channeling through their subconscious and seeing what makes up the mentality of modern America. The soul of our film lays within it's deeply human characters whose struggles feel lived in rather than manufactured.

We are shooting on VHS to create a feeling that is both nostalgic and surveilling, breaking a barrier of reality for the audience to settle into. Every frame is meant to feel like a forgotten memory or something that was never meant to be seen. The audience are ghosts themselves, drifting through the haunted and exploited streets of Savannah, descending deeper until they no longer feel like they're watching a film, but inhabiting it.

So What's The Movie About?

Carey Carpenter, aimless and haunted after a dishonorable discharge from the Navy, drifts into Savannah, Georgia, taking a street-performer job roleplaying a ghost for tourists. Lonely and desperate for connection, he befriends his hopeless landlord, finds comfort at the bottom of the bottle, and develops an obsession with Tanae, a secretive bartender across the street.

A small room in a brothel being all she has left, Tanae dreams of launching her own nail polish line and sees Carey as a possible lifeline. When she glimpses the reality of his life, she realizes there won’t be a future if she doesn’t force a change and abruptly disappears. Consumed by suspicion and obsession, Carey ventures after her, sinking deeper into a downward spiral through the dark underworld hidden beneath Savannah’s charming streets.

The Cast

Why This Movie Matters Now

Stories should be reflecting the world we're living in, not running from it. This film explores the exploitative nature of capitalism, the elite and their favorite hobby of sex trafficking, and the way people who are lost or never given a fair opportunity are so easily taken advantage of. We're telling that story through the ghostly and timeless streets of Savannah, where beauty and exploitation have always existed side by side. If this film gets people talking, asking questions, or looking at the world differently, then we've done what we set out to do.

Going Forward

Once the project is funded, the first dollars will go to insurance and paying locations. We'll then buy the remaining props and gear and get ourselves prepped for catering. All funds go straight into our business account with all expenses documented.

We're so close to finishing pre-production, with your help we'll be locked and loaded to shoot a film you'll never forget.

About This Team

Evan Quarles - Raised in a cult in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where I was trained in MMA and taught how to catch venomous reptiles, I have no shortage of unusual experiences to draw from for my writing.

After eighth grade, I stopped attending school and dedicated myself to studying film and screenwriting. I spent years working difficult jobs to pay rent while searching for a way to turn writing into a career. That search eventually led me to art school. There was only one problem: I had stopped going to school after eighth grade. So I forged a high school transcript and convinced a college to let me in. At art school, I met collaborators who pushed me to become a better artist, including Toby Keenan. After graduation, we reunited in Atlanta and founded Pumpkin Prophets LLC. Together, we have produced an original 4-Act play, developed an animated pilot, released original music and music videos, and are now producing our first feature film. I have never had a backup plan. Every step of the way, I bet all of the chips on myself and will never stop.

Toby Keenan - All I want to do is make art. It has consistently been my greatest desire in the wildly inconsistent experience of life. I have relentlessly tested myself in this world, honing my craft and my ability to express myself through all different mediums of art. I believe they are all one in the same. It was martial arts and the philosophy of The Way that truly opened my mind to what art is at the spiritual level and how it can lead you along the path to enlightenment.

Joe Oh - I'm a producer based in Atlanta, Georgia, originally from Dallas, Texas. I love movies and being part of a team where we create something out nothing is literally the dream. My work is rooted in a deep appreciation for authentic storytelling and the creative freedom that independent filmmaking allows. I'm always seeking new opportunities to collaborate with storytellers who are pushing boundaries and redefining what independent cinema can be.
