"Harpazo" sees two friends coming to terms with their queer identities in the midst of a biblical doomsday countdown. Mission Statement
The Story
After 10 years of plotting, 2 years of writing/re-writing, 4+ screenplay accolades, and countless hours of building, sewing, painting, scouting and planning, "Harpazo," is finally going into production this June!
This is a unique and important story, inspired by personal experience, which uses absurdist comedy and surrealism to explore the dynamic between young, closeted gay/trans people in an isolated, conservative community. We've put together a wonderful team highly-driven young creatives, including multiple trans creatives both onscreen and behind the scenes, because we know important representation like this is in light of the current LGBTQ+ backlash. But diversity aside, "Harpazo" is, at it's core, it is a coming-of-age story centered on teen friendship.
(Oh, and the world may or may not be ending.)

Filming will consist of 5 days on-location around the Salton Sea area, 2 days on-location in Lancaster, and 2 days of interior shoots in Los Angeles. We're doing all this on a microbudget, and will need to raise a minimum of $9,525. It's that specific number, because we've budgeted and accounted for everything METICULOUSLY! A breakdown of these expenses can be viewed under our "Wishlist" :)
We're planning on submitting this film to festivals all over the world, and the script has already received international acclaim! We (the cast & creative team) really feel that we're at the start of an incredible journey, and we want YOU to be a part of it. Our supporters are so important to us that all our higher tier incentives include YOU being an official part of the team both on IMDb and in the credits themselves - literally your name on the silver screen! Even the smallest pledge will be reciprocated with social media shout-outs and updates about the film. We have huge dreams for this project, and we want to take you all with us on the adventure!

FROM THE WRITER:
Those of you who know me know that this film is my passion project, and the #1 thing in my life right now! I'm so grateful for how "Harpazo" has resonated with those who've read it, and for all the people volunteering their time to bring the story to life. I'm also producing this film, and putting everything I have into it - making the costumes, building set pieces and props, booking our locations, coordinating everyone's schedules... it's honestly the biggest project I've ever taken on, and I'm SO excited that it's finally happening!
After "Harpazo" won Best Screenplay at the Lift-Off Berlin Film Festival, I was interviewed about the film, and we had a really great conversation about its themes. That interview can be read on my Instagram page (LINK) - also check out the "Harpazo" tab for stories, updates, and behind-the-scenes videos!

FROM THE DIRECTOR:
Hello Everyone! Jamie has worked incredibly hard to bring "Harpazo" to life, so I'm honored and excited to be included as the director. From my first read of the script, I was immediately drawn into the characters of Zeke and Harpo and their personal struggles amidst the nearing end of the world. My favorite genres to make are dramas, comedies, and everything in between! So a coming-of-age, surrealist dramedy like “Harpazo” is right up my alley! Thank you in advance to everyone who supports "Harpazo" and our story! I hope to see you on set!

About This Team
ANNA O'DONNELL
Anna O’Donnell is a Chinese American filmmaker from Houston, Texas. She is currently a first-year MFA candidate in USC’s Film and Television Production program. When she isn’t saving up money working as a production assistant, Anna enjoys writing, directing, and producing dramatic and comedic short films. Common themes in her films include coming of age and mother-daughter relationships. Her short film "The Island" was recently awarded a Silver Remi Award at the 2023 WorldFest Houston International Film Festival. One of her career goals is to make the next unforgettable, summer teen flick (think Easy A, Clueless, Booksmart)!
JAMIE MUNSEY
Jamie is a multidisciplinary actor, writer, and producer who has been active in the UK’s vibrant theatre scene since graduating from Regent’s University London in 2018. A native of Los Angeles, CA, she is particularly drawn to the exploration of American culture, environmental issues, and the stories of underrepresented communities - but always with a emphasis on comedy. She's won several awards for her first screenplay, "Harpazo," including Best Screenplay at the Berlin Lift-Off Festival, and Best First-Time Screenwriter at the LA Script Awards. "Harpazo," was also a semi-finalist for Best Screenplay at the San Fransisco Arthouse Short Festival, and Best Screenplay in Scriptwrite's Short Script Contest.
