Mission Statement

When I became a father, I realized there weren't any guidelines or other men willing to provide guidance and wisdom. I felt the need to use my platform to shine a light on the struggles of being a dad and to create empathy and bonds and encourage each other through my mistakes and struggles.

The Story

Parenting is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do and still continues to challenge me in more ways than one. I will never stop learning and more challenges are ahead on the horizon as these children are growing up so fast. But I hope that when people view this short - they are able to identify with the struggles as well as feel encouraged to take ownership and bear the burden of improving ourselves together so that our children will become better, stronger, wiser, and kinder versions of ourselves.

Matthew is a young father to two children and one of them is in the middle of throwing a massive tantrum. Matthew tries his best to stay calm and address the situation, but is soon pushed over the edge. When the dust settles, he realizes what he has done, and has a painful revelation about his past that forces him to confront his wrongs.

For the past several years, I wanted to make a film about what it means to be a father in this day and age.

As a father of two children, my journey in fatherhood has taught me that parenting is more about parenting yourself than your children, because ultimately, you’re the one they will model their behaviors after.

Growing up in an immigrant household, there were several life lessons I tried to piecemeal from TV shows, movies, books and social media. Unfortunately, that left a gap for me in dealing with anxiety, fears and emotional self-regulation.

Perhaps things got lost in the immigrant struggle, or maybe it was the concept of “Han” that’s unique to Koreans. Whatever it was, I realized that I needed to take a stand and make sure that I took intentional time to work on myself in order not to pass down the same bad habits to my children.

We have a powerful and emotional script written and ready to be shot. We're planning a 2.5 day shoot in late summer. We've excited to cast some fresh faces and give opportunities for young Asian American actresses. We are looking for two young actresses under the age of ten, as well as a few other supporting characters.

We plan on using our budget for Production and Post-Production, as well as festival submissions. Once we've wrapped, our goal is a very quick turnaround in post-production, finishing the film and submitting to festivals by late fall. It is a tighter schedule, but with your support, we feel confident we can make it! Backers should expect to receive a link the finished film by early 2025.

If we're able to raise above our target of $20,000, our Stretch Goals are to use the extra funding to target more film festivals and to be able to host a Friends & Backers screening with a follow-up Q&A, both in person and online.
