Mission Statement

The character of Thærf was originally created for a 48 hour competition, in 2015. That short was a fun adventure comedy. Now we are taking the character in a more serious and scary direction. This proof of concept short film (which will be a stand alone story) will be a sci-fi thriller horror.

The Story

Thærf is the lone survivor of her world, and she's out for revenge on the man that destroyed her reality by hunting down every version of him across the multiverse!

This film follows Jacob as he encounters a soldier variant of himself from another reality, who's there to save him from Thærf.

ALBERIE HANSEN as Thærf

Imagine TERMINATOR meets EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE, with a hint of AMERICAN PSYCHO.

While this short film has a complete story with a satisfying twist ending, it is also a proof of concept for a feature!

The character, Thærf was originally created in 2015 for a 48 hour competition short film called OFF THE CUFF. It was an adventure comedy that saw Thærf chasing her target through the multiverse to recover stolen property. We loved the character and concept we created for this short, and wanted to do more with them!

I brought Thærf back in 2017 for a series pilot called THE DARKEST TIMELINE. Like OFF THE CUFF, this was also an adventure comedy that saw Thærf chasing her targets through the multiverse, where they discovered discrepencies in the alternate realities manifesting as the phenomenon known as the Mandela Effect.

THOMAS TULAK, Writer / Director

As fun as these two projects were, we feel like this character has the potential to be frightening, so that's exactly what we are exploring with this short film. Thærf will be chasing her target across the multiverse, only instead of an adventure comedy, it's a tense sci-fi thriller!

This character and this concept has been a personal favorite of mine and my team's for years. I'm thrilled to bring this character to life again, take her as far as we can, and make everyone scared of her!

This short was specifically developed to submit to the DUST Youtube channel, which features independently produced sci-fi short films.

This Youtube channel has high quality standards and requirements that my team and I feel confident we can meet.

"Our audience expects great characters, effective world-building, and a satisfying ending. The story doesn’t need to be completely buttoned up, but often proof of concept films can be too light on plot or resolution. Remember: story first."  -Rules and Terms from the Dust submit page.

CHRIS WARREN, Director Of Photography

To that end, although THÆRF is designed as a proof of concept, it does have a solid complete story with a satisfying ending!

It is our goal to submit THÆRF to the DUST Youtube channel!

Although our team is comprised of experienced filmmakers and actors, we are planning to do some things with this short that we have not done before!

About This Team

#SafetyforSarah

We support the Safety for Sarah Jones Movement demand for safer film sets!

No film is worth anyone risking their health, or their life.

This film will have minor stunts, simulated combat, and fire arms. To ensure the safety of everyone on set at all times, a stunt coordinator and fight choreographer will be overseeing every day of production. Although the fire arms used in the film will be prop weapons that look real but aren't, we will have a certified security contractor serving as armor, overseeing the safe handling of all weapons.

We will also be adhering to Covid regulations. One of our cast members is a medical professional, and will also serve as our Covid Compliance Officer. He will be working in tandem with our UPM to ensure that we follow Covid safety protocals.
