Synopsis - In an attempt to advance her acting career, Nina Lamb signs up for a casting director workshop run by Sasha Diablo. Is she there to help her - or is there something more sinister at play?
"The One Who Got Called In" is a twisted new tale from Morbid Little Girl Productions
The script was inspired after founder, Bec Fordyce, and actress, Heather Gilbert, shared real life horror stories from casting director workshops one afternoon over lunch.
Bec had previously written a screenplay for another horror short, but never really knew what to do with the piece.
Combining stories the women had shared, and some of the concepts from the previous script, "The One Who Got Called In" was born.
This is Morbid Little Girl Productions' most ambitious project to date - and we need your help to make it!
WHO WE ARE

MORBID LITTLE GIRL PRODUCTIONS
Morbid Little Girl Productions was founded by Bec Fordyce July 4, 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdown.
The logo was inspired by Bec's childhood drawings.
Bec, her sister and cousins loved the movie Jaws growing up. They would draw sharks eating people to give to their parents to hang on the fridge.
Our films strive to inject social commentary in a dark, humorous, and irreverent fashion.
So far, we have made 4 award winning projects (short films Cut to the Chase, The Karening and Killer Shoes and web series pilot,A Class Act)...all with a skeleton crew and next to no budget.

The Karening has been our biggest success to date.
Shot on a $500 budget, the short played at festivals in over 10 countries around the world. It won the highly coveted Audience Choice Award for Best Short at Festival of Cinema NYC 2021, and landed distribution on Indiepix Unlimited
WHAT IS
"THE ONE WHO GOT CALLED IN" ABOUT?

The One Who Got Called In is a horror short based on an acting urban legend.
The urban legend revolves around the highly controversial "pay-to-play" workshops led by casting directors...and the actor lucky enough to be called in by these gatekeepers.
Our short film puts a horror twist on the actor who gets called in.
The concept poster was inspired by the Point Horror book series covers.
WHY WE WANT TO TELL THIS STORY
Horror is a genre very close to our heart. We love horror for the scares, but also because it is a great platform for social commentary.
We hope that this film might serve as a cautionary tale to those that work in the performing arts.
We also hope to thrill our horror fans with a creepy story!
Our director, Louie Cortes, has spent the last decade primarily directing horror shorts and is the founder of Haunted Hangover.

Director, Louie Cortes

Our lead actress, Heather Gilbert, is a Syfy Channel Scream Queen and starred opposite Robert Englund in Lake Placid vs. Anaconda

Lake Placid Vs Anaconda Sony Pictures 2015
Writer/producer/actress Bec Fordyce was awarded "Fresh Blood" (Best First Time Director) at Scared for your LIIFE 2020 Edition for her film Cut to the Chase. She is also a professional makeup artist and specializes in Gore and FX makeup for indie horror films.

Bec Fordyce at Scared for your LIIFE 2021
Morbid Little Girl Productions so far has made projects that exist in the horror-comedy realm. This time around, we want to make an film that is heavier on scares, and a little lighter on laughs.
The film's tone has been influenced by Tony Scott's The Hunger and Peter Greenaway's The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover as well as Nicolas Winding Refn's The Neon Demon
This is a horror short written with actors in mind. We have heard real life horror stories from workshops ranging from the Casting Agent looking at their smart phones the entire time to saying something psychologically damaging.
We hope fellow actors find moments in the film where they can say "I can relate!"
We also hope that this film gives horror fans a good scare.
