HELP US REACH OUR STRETCH GOALS
Thank you for your steady support, for tweeting, posting and sending emails on our behalf and most importantly for believing in this horror film of ours! We are honored, overwhelmed and humbled that you have put your faith in us and that we were able to secure our initial goal in just ten days – we could not have gotten here without you!
But the campaign isn't over just yet, we still have more costs to cover when it comes to post and final finishing. For this reason we have created a handful of “stretch goals” that will help us meet funding for other important areas of the project:
Stretch Goal 1: Reaching $25,000 will allow us to:
Cover post-production costs such as color correction and sound design of the final cut.
Stretch Goal 2: Reaching $30,000 will allow us to:
Work with a composer to record the final score, and help us with film festival submission costs.

The struggle to conceive can exact a brutal toll.
THE KNOWING is a psychological horror that follows Lea, a grieving artist, who has escaped the city for a quiet cabin in the woods to process the emotional pain of a recent miscarriage. Her loss is compounded by a long history with IVF, and now she’s left questioning what to do next. As she wrestles with her past, and possible future, a terrifying force pays her a visit – provoking a confrontation and ultimately, a choice.
Written and directed by Erin Lovett, this film is a unique exploration of a scary reality that for many, is kept private, and unspoken. Generally, conversations around fertility are focused on getting pregnant, or having a baby, but for those struggling to conceive, there’s more to it. Infertility can silently shape someone’s identity, and impact many facets of life - relationships, time, money, energy, stress and more.
Ultimately, THE KNOWING is about identity, pressure, choice, internalized trauma, and how a woman's relationship with this beast is unlike any other.
THE KNOWING is a film about a woman who is haunted by a monster many know, but rarely speak of - infertility, which today impacts 10 percent of women and 9 percent of men. I too have a story, and understand how lonely, and horrific it can be.
I’ve spent the last decade directing and producing critically-acclaimed documentary film and television, but as a life-long superfan of horror films and novels, I knew this particular story would be powerful framed in horror, and told by a woman like myself.
Our goal with this film is to not only thoughtfully represent this deeply personal experience, but to empower women to share their stories, and build wider acceptance for reproductive choices - whatever they may be.

The film will be packed with creeping psychological dread along the lines of 1963's THE HAUNTING, DON'T LOOK NOW, RELIC, UNDER THE SHADOW, IT FOLLOWS, and THE BABADOOK.
With lensing, composition and color, we’ll build a world around our protagonist that will feel more frightening, oppressive and claustrophobic – all in line with her vulnerability and feelings of isolation and uncertainty.
This film will feel moody, atmospheric, and at times leave your heart pounding. It’ll open with intensity, and from there, slowly build - rationing scares for maximum impact to deliver a tense and emotional ride, culminating in an ending with an unexpected twist.
STORYBOARD EXAMPLE
The script is written, pre-production is underway, our location is secured, and our talented team is partially assembled. Essentially, the film is already in motion and all we need now is your help. We’re aiming to film for four days in Upstate New York in June 2022, and will begin distribution immediately following picture lock of the film in late summer. We believe our film's high-quality, cinematic style paired with nuanced storytelling, and raw performances will make it a must for film festivals, and we plan to target the big ones as well as the genre darlings.

This campaign will fund THE KNOWING’s four-day production in upstate NY this summer. We have a strong vision for this film, and an amazingly talented crew on deck, but in order to bring it to life - we need your help.
Your contribution will help take The Knowing into production, ensure payment to cast and crew, and will put us in a good position for a success festival run. Your contribution will pay for:
- Cast and crew
- A safe and smoothly run production
- Gear rentals we don't already have in our kit
- And if there's some money left, post-production
Our ask of $20,000 will cover nearly all the film production costs for the shoot itself.
If we raise $22,000, we’ll be able to handle any unexpected timeline disruptions (potentially COVID related or otherwise). That money will also help cover our festival distribution costs, so we can get the film out into the world and in front of a wider audience.
If we raise $28,000, we’ll be able to handle most of our post-production costs.

- Increases representation of complex female voices in film
- Offers more inclusion in above the line positions (behind the camera)
- Encourages reflection and empathy surrounding issues related to reproductive and mental health
