Hi, I'm Shane Logue-director/writer/editor of Xerxes!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my project:
May I ask you a question?
Do you know any deaf people or have deaf friends? What about deaf actors in film or television? Marlee Matlin perhaps? Children of a Lesser God was a wonderful film and the first time I saw a deaf actor in a film.

According to Gallaudet University, in the United States, approximately 1,000,000 people over 5 years of age are "functionally deaf;" more than half are over 65 years of age.
As a young child I had speech delays and ended up having ear tubes put in but remember going to a hospital with many deaf children, as children we communicated by playing with toys.
I would like to unify the hearing and hard of hearing/deaf communities through film. The deaf or hard of hearing community is one of the least represented in media today. They know when a hearing person plays a deaf character and feel misrepresented.

He gives us the point of view from the deaf viewing audience who find it hard to understand the hearing actor who only learns ASL for the role.
As a filmmaker who likes to include actors from all walks of life I would like to bridge the two worlds.

Lady Gaga spreads some love to my lead actor at the Ali Forney Center . 640,000 LGBTQ youth experience homelessness in America.
I would like to do this by finishing the movie I am in production with using two of my favorite film genres: Science Fiction and Thriller/Horror.
It is important to make this film now more than ever because we need to keep the dialogue of diversity flowing amongst all communities.
I was able to fund most of production through savings and prize money, now I just need a boost to the finish line!!
As a graduate of New York University Tisch with my MFA in Film Production, I feel very prepared and skilled enough to make this feature film after working on about 50 short films.

John Waters believes in me! (fun fact: John Waters told me he was kicked out of NYU!)
Overall, horror/thriller movies consistently have the most films in the top 20 for ROI (return on investment) and the least in the lowest 20 ROI, according to Investopedia.
My idea for this film and inspiration for one of my characters came about after watching the show COSMOS hosted by Neil Degrasse Tyson Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City.
Then I found this article about KIC 8462852 which really got the wheels turning:
https://www.sciencealert.com/we-just-got-even-weirder-results-about-the-alien-megastructure-star

If you are a fan of diversity in film, sci-fi, and horror/thriller genres I invite you to come on this journey with me- it will be a wild ride!! THANK YOU to the MOON and back!
